Donegal SUAS 2001

Hello everyone and welcome to this year's Donegal SUAS. We have located this walk in one of the most scenic areas of the Northwest with the majestic Errigal towering over the starting point and dominating the Northern views from the walk itself. The views South from the walk cover a large sweep of Co.Donegal and with a bit of luck the distant Ben Bulben can be seen from the summit of Slieve Snacht. We are also on the edge of the Glenveigh National Park with it's magnificent castle and gardens.

The mountains we shall be walking in have generally rounded tops but have steep, often craggy sides so great care will be required with your navigational skills!

Given the time of year and the nature of the terrain described above it has been decided to have a fixed Basecamp with a very short walk on the Friday evening and a longer walk on the Saturday. Sunday will have an early finish and allow those groups with enough time and any energy left to climb Errigal!
